Design Notes

The Chaine d’Or uses a classic curb link, each link approximately 4mm wide — substantial enough to read as jewellery (not a whisper chain that vanishes), refined enough for the office. The links are uniform, polished on all faces, and joined so the chain flexes in every direction: it drapes in a smooth curve rather than kinking or twisting. This fluidity is the difference between a chain that looks expensive and one that doesn’t.

Length is 45cm with a 5cm extender — the “princess” length that sits at the collarbone on most necks, the most flattering and versatile placement. It frames the face, works with every neckline from crew to V to open collar, and provides the ideal base for layering (shorter than most pendants, so it forms the top tier). Craftsmanship

A great curb chain is deceptively difficult to make well. Each link must be identical in size, twist, and polish, or the eye catches the irregularity immediately. Our chains are assembled link by link, each join soldered closed (unsoldered links pull apart — the most common failure in cheap chains), then the entire chain is polished after assembly so every link shines uniformly, including the joins.

The lobster clasp is the chain’s hardest-working component, so we over-engineer it: a full-size clasp (not the tiny ones that defeat arthritic fingers), with a spring tested for a thousand cycles. The jump rings connecting clasp to chain are soldered, not split — another invisible detail that prevents the “my necklace just fell off” disaster. Every Chaine d’Or is pull-tested before boxing.
